Notes on Installing Binance APP on Flyme (Meizu) OS

Meizu's Flyme OS is still being updated after the Geely acquisition, but its user base is small and ecosystem adaptation is relatively delayed. Can the Binance APP be installed on Flyme? How is the experience? This note provides a reference. To download the APK, go to the Binance Official Website or the Binance Official APP; for iPhone installation, refer to the iOS Setup Guide.

Current Status of Flyme

Evolution of Meizu Flyme:

Version Period
Flyme 8 2019-2020
Flyme 9 2021-2022
Flyme 10 2023
Flyme AIOS (Based on Flyme 10) 2024 onwards

After being acquired by Geely, Meizu started focusing on AI and vehicle-phone connectivity. Flyme is still maintained, but the update pace has slowed down.

Installation Process

Installing the Binance APK on Flyme:

  1. Settings → Fingerprint and Security → Apps from unknown sources
  2. Select the browser used for downloading (e.g., Quark / Chrome)
  3. "Allow" installation
  4. Download the Binance APK via the browser
  5. Tap from the notification bar → Install
  6. Wait a few seconds → Done
  7. Launch the APP

Flyme's interception is relatively lenient, not as strict as MIUI, ColorOS, or OriginOS, so the process is smoother.

Auto-start and Background Execution

Path for Flyme's auto-start management:

  1. Settings → Apps → App Management
  2. Find Binance
  3. "Permissions" → Check all permissions
  4. "Battery" → Select "Unrestricted"

Flyme's background keep-alive capability is relatively good among domestic Chinese ROMs, and Binance push notifications are generally timely.

Notifications and Push

Flyme notification settings:

  • Settings → Notifications and Status Bar → App Notifications → Binance
  • Turn on "App Notifications"
  • Turn on "Show on Lock Screen"
  • Turn on "Floating Notifications"

Older versions of Flyme (8 / 9) integrated their own push service, but Binance didn't hook into it. Flyme 10 switched to Google FCM compatibility, which doesn't affect Binance.

Special Aspects of Flyme AIOS

Flyme AIOS from 2024 onwards:

  • Integrates the AI assistant "Aicy"
  • Some functions rely on cloud AI
  • APP installation behavior is identical to Flyme 10
  • Binance APP compatibility is good

Known Compatibility Issues

Occasional issues with the Binance APP on Flyme:

Issue 1: Status Bar Overlap Some Meizu models have a unique status bar style, occasionally causing the top Binance banner to be obscured. Solution: In the APP → Settings → Display → Adjust top margin.

Issue 2: Font Anomalies Flyme's built-in font (Source Han Sans) occasionally causes alignment issues on Binance's digital displays. Solution: Use the system default font.

Issue 3: System-level mBack Gesture Conflicts Flyme's "mBack" gesture might conflict with the Binance back gesture. Solution: Disable edge back within the APP, or use mBack globally.

Performance

Binance experience on mid-range Meizu models with Flyme:

  • Launch time: 3-5 seconds
  • Smooth market chart scrolling
  • Occasional frame drops when zooming K-lines
  • Memory usage: 280-320 MB

The experience on flagship Meizu phones (like Meizu 21) is close to that of mainstream manufacturers' flagships.

Notes for Older Flyme 8 / 9

If you are still using an old Meizu phone:

  • Flyme 8 / 9 have stopped receiving security patches for a long time
  • Some SSL root certificates have expired
  • Occasional handshake failures when launching the Binance APP
  • It is recommended to upgrade to Flyme 10 or change phones

Status of the "App Store"

Meizu App Store:

  • Does not have Binance
  • Some versions mainly push overseas APP installation services
  • Small user base

Binance users still need to install via direct APK download.

Choosing Push Methods

Push notifications on Flyme can go through two channels:

  • Proprietary Flyme Push (requires developer integration)
  • Google FCM compatible channel

Binance uses FCM, so push notifications on Flyme 10+ are generally normal. On Flyme 8, FCM is occasionally unstable.

Long-Term Configuration

Setting Value
Apps from unknown sources Allow Browser
Permissions All enabled
Battery Unrestricted
Notifications All enabled
Font System default
Gestures mBack compatible
